Discover magnetism and electric motors

Find out what electromagnetism is, how electric motors work and why electromobility is so exciting at the MAGNETIKA exhibition.

The MAGNETIKA exhibition has opened its doors on the premises of SWD AG in the Kaisermatt Technology Park in Densbüren.
The exhibition provides an exciting insight into the basics of electromagnetism and offers a lively approach based on experiments from the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland and TECHNORAMA Swiss Science Center in Winterthur. It also features a number of exclusive objects, such as Maxon’s Mars Mobile and the hub motor of the ‘mythen’ electric racing car from ETH Zurich and the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

The exhibition offers a range of engaging and interactive exhibits that provide visitors with the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of and participate in the subject matter. Attendees will have the chance to experience first-hand the power of electromagnetism, which is at work in many of today’s electrical devices. The journey will take visitors from the extraction of magnetism from iron ore to its application in the latest and most efficient high-tech electric motors.

Discover how iron, copper and electricity create magnetic force and find out more about

  • Magnetisable iron and its geometries to maximise power
  • The role of copper in conducting electricity
  • Electricity: where it comes from and how it is carried.
  • The comparison: ‘petrol and spark plugs’ versus ‘iron, copper and electricity’.
  • Generate electricity yourself and experience the power first hand.
