Axial flux technology is gaining momentum

Axial flux technology is gaining momentum: AxD AG – LCD LaserCut AG and SWD AG Stator- und Rotortechnik are jointly developing the technology for wound axial-flux electrical steel cores

The axial flux motor technology is used in various applications. For this, spirally wound cores made of electrical steel materials are required, whose precise manufacturing is highly demanding.

The development of the corresponding manufacturing technologies for these components began more than three years ago. Based on the long-standing experience of LCD for prototypes and SWD for industrializations, the technological advancement is now being carried out by the newly formed AxD AG.

The packages are precisely wound in an innovative process and simultaneously baked with high strength. Subsequently, mechanical post-processing takes place. Prototypes are manufactured on specially developed production facilities in coordination with the customer. The prototype manufacturing has already completed several projects, and the first series concepts are ready for implementation.

AxD is led by Dr. Hannes Weiss, professional in the field of axial-flux technology and electrical steel material. AxD focuses on spirally wound and machined components. The development and production of single poles in a pyramid shape remains unchanged for LCD and SWD.
